Practical answer
What should I try when powdery mildew or fungal disease keeps returning?
Repeated mildew or fungal marks usually mean the growing conditions are helping the disease return. Product choice matters, but airflow, leaf wetness, shade, crowded growth, and plant stress matter too.
In Cyprus, the pattern often appears during humid periods, sheltered balconies, dense roses, or plants watered over the leaves.
Change the conditions first
- Remove badly affected leaves and fallen debris.
- Open the plant canopy with light pruning if it is crowded.
- Water the soil, not the leaves, especially late in the day.
- Move pots where there is more airflow if possible.
- Avoid heavy feeding that pushes soft susceptible growth.
When using fungicide
- Use only a product labelled for the plant and disease you are treating.
- Apply before the problem is severe, because prevention is easier than rescue.
- Repeat only as the label allows.
- Do not mix products casually or apply during heat stress.
